Manageable vs. Serious Defects

Manageable vs. Serious Defects
All houses result from compromises. The overall quality of a house is the result of compromises in location, planning, site, material, workmanship and maintenance. It is important to identify the defects and unfavorable conditions prior to the home purchase. In this way, the defects can be prioritized and managed.

You can expect the home inspection to disclose defects that are not noticeable when you walked through the home during a showing appointment. Manageable defects can be corrected while living in the house or prior to the move. An example of a manageable defect is unsafe wiring (needing immediate attention because of the safety hazard) or substandard insulation in the attic that can be corrected while you are living in the house. Serious defects may prove to be unacceptable to you, like a steep driveway.
