Home Inspection Process
The home inspection process includes a number of inspections for environmental hazards that worry home buyers such as lead paint, radon, urea formaldehyde foam insulation (UFFI), leaking underground storage tanks, water quality, etc. Some of this testing is at performed the discretion of the home buyer and dependent on the type of home purchase. For example, if you are buying a home with a private well, it may be important to you to ensure that the water is not contaminated. It is important to remember that property owners are not always aware of the true condition of their home and the threat of environmental hazards. Other than routine maintenance, it is possible that the homeowners have not looked critically at their home's condition until they decided to sell it and even then, may not have have taken a really good look. Nearby hazards such as toxic waste sites may be enough of a threat to a home buyer to warrant finding another top choice home and may affect resale at a later date. |
